BIO

Based in Jersey, Norman is an associate of the Chartered Governance Institute, holds a BSc in Economics and is certified in data protection. He contends that understanding is the key to building trust, which in time enables his drive toward realising potential – of people, assets and intangibles; be they ideas, solutions, opportunities or communities.

He spent 20 years supporting a software development subsidiary of Intercontinental Exchange Inc (NYSE: ICE) as Company Secretary and, toward the end of his tenure, a Director; so has broad experience of IT systems, the data these process, the complexity of the underlying logic and the human factors inherent in design, testing, release and monitoring. His other responsibilities extended to all aspects of managing the business: finance, HR, reporting and compliance; including the design and implementation of the Sarbanes-Oxley control and audit programme.

His consulting work with Cognos focuses on data protection, analysis / manipulation and system governance.

Norman served his community for seven years in an honorary capacity, being a part of the criminal justice process to hold individuals and organisations to account. This fostered his sense of compassion toward those in difficult situations which, being synonymous with understanding, helps him to be an asset during a crisis.

More recently, Norman has taken on the role of Secretary to the Committee of Jersey Trees for Life, which aims to be the island’s leading environmental charity by 2027.

His interests include sailing and skiing. He has competed in the Fastnet Race (albeit a “Slownet” that year, due to light winds) and is increasingly adventurous on the mountain; off-piste excitement with a guide!

  • Unprecedented challenges are emerging. Recognising the risks these present will help prioritise the changes needed to protect stakeholder’s interests. While we may be unable to influence the cause, an understanding of the effect may yet present opportunities to help secure the future.
